C'est avec une grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Phyllis Gauthier (née Rowe), le 21 novembre 2023 au Centre d'Hébergement Argyll à Sherbrooke, Qc.
Phyllis a eu une carrière exceptionnelle en tant que technicienne en radiologie et en médecine nucléaire. Elle aimait redonner à sa communauté et, une fois à la retraite, elle a rejoint l'Anglican Church Women (ACW), où elle a continué à s'épanouir et à créer des amitiés durables.
Elle fut précédée dans mort par son mari George et de son fils Bob. Phyllis laisse dans le deuil ses filles Anne et Susan (Serge); sœur Pauline; sa belle-fille Ruth; belle-sœur Caroline; ses petits-enfants Chlöe, Jaime, Christie, Eric, Mark et Daniel ; ses arrière-petits-enfants Benjamin, Briar et Hadley. Elle laisse également dans le deuil son neveu Steven et ses nièces Catherine et Lynn. Phyllis a adoré réunir la famille et a laissé de nombreux souvenirs inoubliables pour nous tous.
La famille accueillera parents et amis à l'Église Anglicane St-Georges d'Ayer's Cliff, le 18 mai 2024 à 10h. Une cérémonie d'adieu aura lieu à 11h au même endroit. Un léger gouter suivra au sous-sol de l'église catholique sur la rue Clough.
Au lieu de fleurs, des dons peuvent être faits à l'ACW de St-George's, qu'elle a présidé pendant de nombreuses années (c/o Elizabeth Schoolcraft, 885 Clough Street, Ayer's Cliff, J0B 1C0). Des dons peuvent également être faits au Fonds d'entretien du cimetière St. Thomas Westbury (c\o M. Roger Heatherington 338, rue Warner, East Angus, QC, J0B 1R0).
La famille exprime sa gratitude et son appréciation à tout le personnel compatissant du Renaissance Manoir St-Francis de Lennoxville ainsi qu’au personnel du Centre d’Hébergement Argyll de Sherbrooke pour l’empathie et la diligence incommensurables. Elle manquera à tous ceux qui l'ont connue.

My dear, lont-time friend. I have many fond memories of time spent with Phil and GG at their beautiful homes in NDG, then in Ayer's Cliff. Your mother was a great woman, very accomplished! She was straight-forward and didn't eat around the bush. I also remember a great cook and gardener. She raised her family while doing important work and lived a long and full life and has reunited with her GG. My heartfelt condolences to you and Susan and all your family.

First as Missioner, then as Bishop I made scores of visits over the years to the Eastern Townships. I usually stayed with George and Phyllis in Ayers Cliff . They were wonderfully kind and generous hosts.
Phyllis was an indefatigable worker in her Parish of St George, in the Deanery of St Francis and in the Diocese of Quebec. She was always ready to take on a task or serve in a particular leadership role. Her clear headed common sense and good humour made her a wonderful partner in the church’s ministry.
Living in Gaspe means I had not seen her often in the years before her death. But we did communicate regularly until the last year or so.
I am grateful to have had such a fine and stalwart friend. May she rest in peace.
