Sending our condolences to your family. Our family had the opportunity to spend some time with Ernie during a trip to Quebec. We had the privilege of having Ernie as a tour guide when we were tracing some of our family roots back to Cumberland Mills. Also had a mean golf game at Dufferin Heights. His many stories were interesting and humorous. Our family still talks about what a great time we had with such a witty knowledgeable guy. Good memories!

Please accept my deepest, sincerest sympathies for the loss of a dear man, he will be missed by all that crossed paths with him...will miss our run in's at the post office where we would take a few minutes to catch up, will miss seeing him strolling his town with a smile and a word for everyone...I had the privilege of seeing him playing on the beach while on vacation, collecting sea shells and filling his pockets with them like a young boy...I will keep those memories close and will remember him fondly always...he was a very special man. RIP Ernie

It is sad to look at Ernie's house and know that he is not there anymore. He loved his home and his neighbourhood. He was a friend to everyone in the village and he carried with him the memories and values of "The Greatest Generation". He was a part of the Ayer's Cliff we all remember, where everyone knew each other and friends were meant to last a lifetime. He served his community as a part of just about every organization that ever existed in Ayer's Cliff, and did it with pride and honour. He will be missed but not forgotten.

We weren't 'locals' of Ayer's Cliff when moving here 20+ years ago but met Ernie in passing on the street one day. He was such a colorful story teller about this town, his journey in life, work history and even showed me those wooden rakes stored in his garage he manufactured in the nearby factory. He was a genuine soul who's now with his wife ....still telling stories, I'm sure.

Very sad to hear this. His cousin, the late Amos Wintle, thought of him as an older brother and loved him dearly. Peace to the family.

Your Dad was one of the kindest, compassionate and sweetest men I have ever met. He was a true gentleman from another era. Your Mom used to babysit my son and your Dad would make logs and blocks for his trucks. He will be sadly missed by all of us in the Cliff. Rest in peace dear Ernie.

Sending you our deepest condolences.
Uncle Ernie was a very lovely man and we had so many fond memories of their visits to Niagara. His journeys would take him all over south western Ontario for the business and it was a source of pride and joy. He had the infectious Wintle laugh.
He is with the love of his life, Aunt Phylis.
Love, Shelley, Mike and family
